West Sussex Herb Group May ’11
It was lovely to see how much our plants had grown since our first real planting session last time.
We were also faced with an interesting array of weeds, some of them treasures that we decided to keep – Soapwort and Poppy mainly, no thanks to the Dungweed and Rape!
Last month we planted Calendula, Thyme, Lavender, Rosemary, Mugwort, Clary Sage, Mullien and Sage!
After a good weeding session we sat in the sunshine by the Apothecary’s Garden with the pleasant sound of trickling water and a well deserved cup of Lemon balm tea, we discussed plant families, touched on the use of heart remedies -mainly Digitalis, Rose and Hawthorn.
Time to go back to work! New additions to our garden today: German and Roman Chamomile, Hyssop for our border ( need more!) Lemon balm and Parsley.
Next meeting is an evening one: 9th June 7pm-9pm we hope to plant some Hops! Martin has agreed to put some tall poles in as they like to grow high!!
All welcome to next meeting- hope to see you there!
